If you can name where I am and what show is regularly filmed here, I’ll allow you laugh at me for going into my first drift with my traction control still on today. It’s on by default, every time you start the car. Flick the car into a turn, it cuts the gas, you feel stupid.

Thanks. Given that it’s in the neighborhood, I think FlyNorCal should by me a Starbucks. Interesting exchange on that other thread and the parking garage.

I’d be happy to. Are you in the Fairlady-Z, the GT-R, or any of the M3's I see around the island by any chance? There’s also a pretty goddamn mean bunch of Mustangs and Hellcats around as well I’ve noticed, owned mostly by cops from what I can tell. I live by the police station and the police lot of full of ‘em while they’re out on patrol.

There’s a cop in the town where I work with a freakin Charger 392 Super Bee. It gives me the wants!

I’m really never on the island. My cars are really boring, but also really dependable. My daily driver, a ‘97 Astro, just had the rear axle rebuilt and the guy put in a posi-trac gear set, but it won’t turn them over even in the wet. Except in reverse.

Hey, well I’ll happily buy you a beverage. I split time between Alameda and Piedmont. Which is closer? If it’s Piedmont we can take a spin in my M5 which I’m ordering an oppo sticker for right this minute.

I drive past Alameda a couple times a week. I always wondered about the hoonage opportunities there, but I haven’t partaken in it so far...

Very hoonable with a huge caveat or two. Many people only receive one speeding ticket in their lifetime. 90% of those people (according to a wikipedia article I’m about to edit) get that ticket here on this small island. The 880S exit for 23rd street is straight. Hit the brakes like there’s a flashing sign warning you of a 10mph turn as there’s a cop just waiting, no doubt. You could wear out a radar detector here.
However... the other end of the island all that naval airstation space is mostly abandoned aside from the Ketel One distillery, Faction brewery, a bunch of wine makers, and other places that need cheap warehouse space. The police do roll through there (saw one tonight) but mostly there’s a private security firm with a white pickup that rolls around and that’s it.
If you want a fun close ride, go visit the Canyon Elementary School District. Pull it up on google maps/earth. *wink*

I’d love to check out the M5 and I am working on my Oppo sticker order right now as well. I’ve been wanting to take a look at NAS Alameda for all the years since they painted the big yellow Xs on the runway. I have a good friend at church who retired as a P-3 test pilot, flying in and out of Alameda. He speaks of how he had to descend a good deal more steeply than he would normally because of the Bay Bridge. Drop me an email? oliphant.chuckerbutty@gmail.com

I have seen them out there, yes. Only once. However, I have an office in the Dogpatch neighborhood in SF back behind the ballpark, and Jaime Howeveryouspellhisname likes the same Japanese restaurant that I do, as I have sat next to him several times there, complete with his hat and microphone earpeice thing on, so I assume their lab is nearby. I’ve never talked to him. He always seemed grumpy and was yelling at a producer of some kind. I have friends in common with Adam Savage so I’ve met him too, and he’s friendly and approachable and genuinely funny. I’d imagine Jaime is probably a nice guy also; I’ve just only seen him when he’s at work, working, and under those same parameters my charm takes a hit too. I’ve seen Kari just while driving around. She’s surprisingly noticeable, even in a moving car.
